1982 Yamaha Maxim 650 4 cylinder
Shaft drive (no chain)

$1400.00

My neighbour Steve purchased a new Suzuki and asked me to prep his well maintained 1982 Yamaha to sell.  It has a 4 cylinder engine that is far smoother and more powerful than the traditional 2 cylinder engines found on most bikes.  I had so much fun doing it, that I invested far more hours than what is reflected in the asking price.  Whoever buys this bike is getting a great value for their money.

I began by yanking the carburetors to cure a rough idle
Thorough cleaning with carb cleaner inside and out
  Tear down
Re-assembly with new gaskets, floats and idle jets adjusted to specs
  Ready to install
Back in place.  This Maxim purrs like a kitten now.
New oil and filter using genuine Yamaha oil and filter.
Next I turned my attention to the paint.  Filled the tiny dents and scratches on the tank.
  Me sanding away...
3 coats of primer finished off with a 400 grit wet sanding.
2 coats of Dupont color coat
  Ditto...
2 coats of urethane clear and new original emblems (they were still available)
New springs on both the side stand and the center stand
  Finished
Notice the new ornament for the side cover and the new chrome trim around the gas tank
  TA DAA!!
Summary:  All the above, plus this bike has an 18 month old $200+ gel battery, great tires, and brakes with 50% wear left.
